Greenhouse Talk

Our staff will discuss how different varieties of plants have adapted to grow in their natural habitats which can often affect their physical characteristics and growth habits. Hear a brief explanation about how a greenhouse structure provides an ideal habitat for plants that would otherwise be impacted throughout the changing seasons in Southwestern Ontario.

Clay Pot Painting &

Plant Transplanting

In this activity, students will create a dot art design, with acrylic paint, on a small clay pot. They will then visit our garden center to pick out their very own 2.5” tropical, sansevieria, or succulent plant. Let us show them how to transplant their selection into their painted pot and top off the small arrangement with coloured gravel. Finally, students will receive care tips to set them up for success with their little plant at home.

Approx. 30-45 minutes

Petting Farm Scavenger Hunt + Meet & Greet

During this self-guided activity, students can observe different types of animals and compare their physical characteristics. While locating the animals on their scavenger hunt list they can read fun facts on habitats along the way. Enjoy a visit with one of our zookeepers and an animal friend during a 10 minute meet & greet. This is yors opportunity to see a small animal up close, ask our zookeeper questions, and take photos.

*Outdoor petting farm exhibits close from Nov. 1 to early Spring.
