Peperomia

Plant Care Tips & Tricks

Peperomia varieties

Peperomia plants have ornamental foliage that grows in a variety of colours and leaf patterns. Often mistaken as succulents, these plants are indeed tropicals; however, their thick, waxy leaves do contribute towards their drought tolerance and simple care requirements.

Varieties: Watermelon, Obtusifolia, Ginny, Hope, Ripple, Rosso, San Marino, Raisinette, Nivalis "Taco Leaf", Red Luna, Abricos, Gray Luna

Lighting: This care will vary depending on the variety. Many peperomia varieties will tolerate low to medium, indirect sunlight; however, they will grow best in indirect, bright light.

Irrigation: Allow about 50%-75% of the soil to dry between thorough irrigations. Water until liquid runs from drainage holes at the bottom of the pot and discard excess water. Do not allow your plant to sit in standing water as it will lead to root rot.

Humidity: This will vary depending on the variety. Most peperomia cultivars will adjust to average household humidity but will appreciate a boost in humidity through the use of a humidifier, pebble tray, or occasional misting.

Fertilizer: Feed once a month during the summer using a balanced fertilizer. Follow package recommendations.
