Thanks to the extraordinary display of lush foliage and white blooms, this tree’s tropical charm fits makes it a lovely piece of décor in any dull space. Many loved its broad, green, and paddle-shaped leaves in a spiral-like form that fan out beautifully. Banana Plant helps purify the air indoors.
Varieties: Super Dwarf Cavendish, Maurelli Ensente aka Red Banana, Basjoo
Lighting: This high-light plant requires full sunlight to assume its full potential. Provide it with lots of bright, indirect light to full sun.
Irrigation: Maintain moderately moist soil. Irrigate when the topsoil is dry to the touch. Water until liquid runs from drainage holes at the bottom of the pot and discard excess water. Do not allow your plant to sit in standing water as it will lead to root rot.
Humidity: Banana plants thrive in an environment with higher moisture levels. When kept indoors, add humidity around your plant by using a mister, pebble tray, or humidifier. Consider placing this plant in a kitchen or bathroom where humidity levels are higher.
Fertilizer: Use a balanced fertilizer once a month during the growing season- spring and summer.
Basjoo Outdoor Care: Plant your banana plant outside to add a tropical look and feel to your landscape. Your plant will require insulation through the winter months. Before frost comes cut your banana plant down. We like to leave our stock 1-2 feet tall. Completely cover the stock with mulch and straw. We suggest a diameter of 3ft around.
