Plant Care Tips & Tricks

Bromeliad

The term "bromeliad" refers to thousands of species of plants under the Bromeliaceae family. All of the beautiful varieties make you feel like you're in the tropics. This unique, long-lasting house plant adds bright colour and texture to its surrounding space. Bromeliads have thick foliage that grows in a natural rosette. The sword-shaped leaves grow outwards and down around a central "cup", which allows it to collect water in its natural habitat.

Varieties: Aechmea, Earth Star, Guzmania, Tillandsia Cyanea, Neoregelia, and more!

Lighting: This plant prefers bright indirect sunlight. Avoid direct sun as it can burn the foliage.

Irrigation: Maintain moderately moist soil. Irrigate when the topsoil is dry to the touch. Water until liquid runs from drainage holes at the bottom of the pot and discard excess water. Do not allow the roots of your plant to sit in standing water as it will lead to root rot.

Humidity: Bromeliads thrive in an environment with higher moisture levels. You can increase humidity by using a mister, pebble tray, or humidifier.

Fertilizer: Feed once a month in the spring and summer using a balanced fertilizer. Follow package instructions.
