Croton

Plant Care Tips & Tricks

Crotons

The croton has thick, distinctive leaves that display a wide variety of colours such as yellow, pink, red, and orange. Popular during Autumn for its vibrant colouring, this tropical foliage plant is often displayed in arrangements and planters. Take good care of them because their high-light care needs also make them great outdoor plants during the summer.

Varieties: Petra, Wavy

Lighting: Crotons require a high-light location with direct sun to achieve its vibrant colouring. A South-facing window or bright West or East facing window is ideal.

Irrigation: Maintain moderately moist soil. Irrigate when the topsoil is dry to the touch. Water until liquid runs from drainage holes at the bottom of the pot and discard excess water. Do not allow your plant to sit in standing water as it will lead to root rot.

Humidity: This plant will adapt to average household humidity but will thrive in an environment with higher moisture levels. You can add humidity around your plant by using a mister, pebble tray, or humidifier.

Fertilizer: Feed once during spring and once during summer using a balanced fertilizer. Follow package recommendations.
