Also known as Japanese Aralia, this tropical plant makes a bold statement in any space due to its unique appearance. A hardy, upright plant with broad green leaves that stretch outwards, Fatsia plants can grow up to six feet tall indoors when cared for properly.
Varieties: Fatsia Japonica, Variegated Fatsia
Lighting: This plant prefers indirect bright light conditions.
Irrigation: Allow the soil to slightly dry between thorough irrigations. Water until liquid runs from drainage holes at the bottom of the pot and discard excess water. Do not allow your plant to sit in standing water as it will lead to root rot. Allowing soil to slightly dry permits oxygen to reach the roots.
Humidity: These plants will adapt well to average household humidity levels.
Fertilizer: Once a month during spring and summer. Use a balanced fertilizer and follow package recommendations.
