Lighting: Bright light is important to promote the growth of its beautiful blooms but keep out of direct sunlight.

Irrigation: Overwatering of lipstick plants can lead to root rot so while they appreciate consistent moisture, allow the top couple of inches of soil to dry between thorough waterings.

Fertilizer: Regular applications of a slow-release fertilizer during the growing season (Spring and Summer).
